And to be fair, he doesn't have to be right all the time--nobody is.

But the problem is that people *do* assume he's always right. Even when he's making a totally random guess. Steve says they must have used NR 3 times on Imagine, even though he doesn't really know the details of what went on? Well, they MUST have! Steve said it! Who are you to disagree?!

Well, shoot the gang for actually liking the guy.

The majority of people on the forum have never met Steve. Ever. Most haven't had a private conversation with him, even via e-mail. Ever.

There's a big difference between "Steve seems like a nice guy" and "tell me what you ate for breakfast, Steve." Don't you understand this?

It hasn't escaped my notice--or his, apparently--that you guys are still lurking around.

While I can't speak for everyone else, as I've noted several times previously, I haven't been. I probably haven't been to the site in two months. Well, I think I came across a discography page once in that time, but it wasn't on the forum.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear, despite the denials, some of you miss the action.

Not really. If I really missed it, I would have come back by now. I would be reading the site on a daily (or at least weekly) basis. I wouldn't be making comments like this here.

I still wish you and D would reconsider. You certainly have nothing to lose.

Nothing except a lot of my time and energy. How many times can you tell someone (using only the most polite language, of course) "shut the fuck up, you're wrong, I've shown you this a half dozen times already, stop going on about my 'inferior' equipment"?

Actually, I'm proud to announce that I've never had occasion to use battery-operated appliances in the baths. I guess that makes me *all man* [sort of].

In the interest of full disclosure (and in case my wife ever sees this):

- I do not own a copy of the DCC "Ride The Lightning" by Metallica.

- I do not have a girlfriend, unless you count my wife. Which I do. "Girlfriend" sounded funnier to me than "wife."

- "Ride The Lightning" also just sounded funny. I realized later that the DCC Harry Chapin reissue may have been even funnier, but "Ride The Lightning" was good enough.

- For those poor souls that never encountered the "Steve's CDs make my girlfriend horny" thread on sh.tv, my post would have made more sense if you had. I'm really not given to saying things like that out of the blue. Really. No, really.

That is all. Back to reality.

Dunno know why, but for some reason this thread has been the home for quite a few confessions: Xenu confessed to not knowing many remastering engineers who have their own fan clubs. Ron [that's me] confessed to having frequented the public baths sans batteries. Grant admits to being a token. Ryan allows as how he doesn't even own a Metallica CD. Ed now admits to not worshipping Steve Hoffman. And Luke merely asks: "Where do I send the baby's gift?"

But honestly, fellas. None of this waay cool bonding has had any effect whatsoever on our efforts to increase our membership. We remain stuck at 60. Not a single new member has signed on since the Membership Drive was inagurated. Got friends at other sites? Great. Turn 'um on to this place. We got hero worship here too, you know. And we've also got girlfriends and/or houseboys who get wet at the first wiff of a great remastering job.
