I'm not sure what that trailer is supposed to show. That Bush will "fight terror before it fights us"? That he won't wait for "them" to strike? 9/11, anyone?

Bush is a manly man, especially for an ex-cheerleader. His steely gaze and rippled flight suit will protect us from the dirty, evil, smelly Arabs (and liberals). He will manfully fight those who attack us by invading (in a macho fashion) countries who didn't attack us. Just cower in the corner, shake in fear, and let Surrogate Daddy Dubya make it all better.
(Unless, of course, he's reading a really good children's book at the time. Then protecting the country will have to wait a few minutes.)
All this fear-mongering is getting on my nerves. There was a piece on NPR this morning about how women are voting for Bush because they're scared of terrorists. "What good is health care if a terrorist kills you?" one asked. "What good is having a job if a terrorist blows up your office?" (Quick lesson in probability: you are infinitely more likely to develop a chronic illness or be laid off than attacked by a terrorist.)
Sounds like the Bush-Cheney Fear Machine is working. Sure, you'll be destitute and sick, but we'll keep killing brown people for you!

I think I understand now.
Saddam was a Bad Man, and as such, even if he wasn't involved with 9/11 (which he was!), taking him out was our Only Option.

It is funny you mention a "Fear Machine". I saw part of Kerry's speech live on Friday afternoon. He mentioned how security needed to be increased on railroads and chemical plants and how HE was the man to do it. The crowd loved it. It would seem that Republicans aren't the only ones playing "Fear" up.

Yeah, fear sells. Kerry can't afford to let himself be painted as "soft on homeland security," so he's gotta say stuff like that. (As though he could do worse on the issue than Bush has.)
