33% off coupon at Wherehouse.com

Postby MK » Sat Sep 24, 2005 12:31 pm

Good for music, games, DVD's, the ENTIRE order, one-third off - includes used AND new music.

This is a really good deal, and their used prices are generally good. Yeah, you ought to support indie stores, but I'm on a budget here, and I usually buy in bulk...

Thanks. Their prices aren't bad to start with, and with a third off it's a deal.

They canceled every used item in my order. YMMV.

All my stuff came in today, but none of it was used.

That sucks. I haven't received/heard anything outside of a confirmation e-mail, and I ordered a mix of used and new stuff.

I ordered five used CDs, all of which have shipped. (One has arrived. The others should be here tomorrow.)

You should be able to check your order status on the website.

I got my whole order yesterday in two packages. The new stuff came in the mailbox via USPS, but the used stuff was left at my door by FedEx. Seems to be everything. I have no idea why they cancelled your order, but I'm really sorry they did, it was pretty cool getting this stuff for real cheap.

The other thing that was cool about the order - correct versions. They list the remastered and old versions of CD's sepearately on their site, but I wasn't sure if they'd follow through in the order. In every case they did. If they had a Wherehouse in my neighborhood, I'd shop there.

What was the condition like? Buying used stuff sight unseen seems kinda risky.

Is there an "advanced search" option?

And are all of the Stones SACDs listed under "SACD Hybrid" or no?

Response from Wherehouse.com customer service:
I am not sure why we were unable to complete your order. It looks like most of these items are still in stock. We apologize for the cancellation of these items from your order and for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Please be assured that you will not be charged for any cancelled items. We never charge your credit card for your purchase until the item physically leaves our warehouse.

I invite you to place a new order for these CDs.

Then they gave me a promotion code for free shipping. That code, however, can't be stacked with the 33% off code.

So, once again, it would appear that my money is no good with these people. They canceled almost $136 worth of merchandise.

Maybe the size of the order tripped some stupid alarm.

Can you use the 33% off coupon again? If not, I'd write back and ask for a new 33% off code so you can get the stuff at the offered price. That response is totally inadequate.

They package their used discs like secondspin and some other places I've bought from: the same bright red-orange 'used' sticker placed over the jewel case, over the top edge to 'seal' the disc, and another sticker on the back with a new UPC code and disc identification (artist, title, etc.). The whole thing is then shrinkwrapped in thick polyethylene wrap, the kind you expect on any rewraps.

A lot of the jewel cases are in excellent shape, and I suspect some replacements, but the discs, booklets, etc. seem really good to me, no major damage, etc. If Wherehouse is anything like the used stores I usually go to, they don't like buying scratched discs, even if it's a minor scratch on a non-encoded part of the disc, and they'll pay you a measly buck at best. That's usually enough to turn away most damaged discs.

I took the CSR's advice and placed another order, then used the 33% off coupon again.

They canceled the entire order. No explanation.
