Carol Kaye claims to have played bass on Light My Fire

Just what the name says.

I've never really minded Carol's bass tone. It isn't really a *rock* bass tone, but I can't imagine a lot of the Beach Boys stuff without it.

Carol Kaye has also claimed to have played bass on Elvis' Suspicious Minds, which also is most likely untrue. Is there something about toiling in obscurity for so many years which causes a session person to turn around and claim credit for stuff they didn't do? Very odd.

Yeah, I've never figured that out. Maybe whatever Purdie had was catching? IIRC, I think only Hal has resisted the urge to claim credit on all sorts of things he didn't play on. He's also the "wrecking crew" member I most respect.
