Your page says that the 02 matrix with the banner is good and the 03 matrix without the banner is bad.
What about a 01 matrix without a banner?

The fade-ups, yeah.
I don't *think* the Japanese version is quite a digital clone, but it doesn't have the fade-ups.

My *guess* is it was "remastered" using an in-house system of Polygram's of some sort. The Polydor Who's Next has the same problem. Apparently somebody thought that was a good idea.
It's really bad on Satisfaction, IIRC.
No idea why it wasn't done for all the CDs.

Ruby Tuesday also fades out to a very low volume early on the "bad" CD. (The total length is the same.)
My "good" CD looks like that:

(Actually there is "BA 900" printed on the back cover of my CD, contrary to this picture.)

My "bad" CD has no "digitally remastered" banner, the track lengths are listed on the back cover, and the logo looks like this on the disc:

As linked in the FAQ, this is the best source I've seen:

I (still!) don't have a "Digitally Remastered" HR1, just a POCD version. I *do* have both a "Digitially Remastered" Aftermath (albeit a CD-R) and a Japanese P25L version (which is actually identical to the P33L - the matrix info actually says P33L). Those are slightly different. IIRC, the hiss on the German one doesn't fade between tracks, or there's more of it, or something, while it does on the Japanese. I think the levels might be ever so slightly different too - it's been a while.

That would make sense, I don't know where else they would have come up with the wierd stereo stuff.
At some point I'll have to FLAC my collection of 01 matrices/banner discs. I heard that it varies from title to title if the MoFi mastering was retained on later pressings. Not sure if I can FLAC my HR1, though, given how absolutely beat up it is.
The only later pressing I have experience with was Between the Buttons...the sans serif London logo disc sounded the same as the serif (older) one with a banner.
