Lame. Liter and poppier than Deep Purple, with fairly forgettable songwriting. There is maybe one good song, which means the disc as a whole is not worthwhile. Despite being released in '97, it sounds more like a late 80s/early 90s affair. I don't think there was ever a domestic release of this title, which is just as well.
Ed L, have you heard this?
Ian Gillan Naked Thunder
Hi Patrick,
Haven't heard this. Honestly, I've never been a fan of Ian Gillan's solo stuff (what little of it I've heard). With the exception of Jon Lord, I've never really listened to any Purple side stuff (also, with the exception of Steve Morse obviously). I do like their late 90's live albums 'Live At The Olympia' & 'Total Abandon' but I pretty much lost all interest in Purple after Come Taste The Band (great album).
Jon Lord's solo titles are top shelf. Windows, Sarabande and especially Pictured Within are excellent. Check them out !
Best, Ed
