Sheer hatred? Perhaps, but don't expect the mainstream media to report on all of the folks there who feel the opposite.

Besides, the idea of "liberation" was only brought up once it was clear that all of the previous reasons (WMD in particular) weren't really flying.

And keep in mind that "liberation" isn't as simple as going in with tanks and tearing down a statue. It's creating a working government that's acceptable to both the Iraqi people and the US. That still hasn't happened in Afghanistan - I'm not holding my breath for it to happen in Iraq.
