Waited about an hour starting at 7:20 this morning. My ward is the most populated in the polling area so the other two wards that shared our polling station had little to no wait.

I am hoping for something quick and decisive that won't involve challenges for days, weeks, months to come. I think Kerry definitely had the momentum going in. If this ends up in some sort of legal quagmire, I fear that we might have a reprise of 2000.

I could see Giuliani perhaps. Jeb Bush, maybe?

As for McCain, isn't he too middle of the road even for the GOP? If Kerry gets in, do you think McCain might have a spot in his cabinet?

If Bush loses, Jeb's chances are less, not but nil. After all, Bush Jr. won even though Bush Sr. got beat in '92.

I would be *very* surprised if McCain ends up in a theoretical Kerry admin. I think that signal got sent when he refused the VP slot.

I could be wrong, but I recall reading somewhere that McCain was close to switching parties but then the GOP started swinging and threatening to bury him in the next election...blah blah blah.

With Bush out of the picture, it might be easier for McCain to come join a Kerry admin. Though McCain campaigned with Bush, he didn't seem to resort to some of the lowball tactics that some other members of his party did. Maybe one of you could prove me wrong.

Bill Schneider just babbled a bit about exit polls. He said the number one issue for Kerry voters is the economy. Number one for Bush voters is "moral values."

45% of Kerry voters said someone in their family lost a job under Bush. 22% of Bush voters did.

Ha ha. CNN's set is festooned with campaign signs. Earlier, whenever they'd show a two-shot of Lou Dobbs and his guest, all you could see was a Kerry sign and two Nader signs. They've now rearranged things so you can see a Bush sign, too.

CNN calls:

Georgia (15 ) - Bush
Indiana (11 ) - Bush
Kentucky (8 ) - Bush
South Carolina (8 ) - No Call
Virginia (13 ) - No Call
Vermont (3 ) - Kerry

As expected. I'd have thought SC would have been an early pick, but it'll go Bush. VA has a slim chance of going blue.
