Yeah, Neil has an extra grudge against digital because he bought all the hype when it first came out, sold all his analog equipment, and then quickly regretted. I think that's why he hates it even more, because he probably feels like he was conned or something. It's all in that biography, "Shakey" by John M-something.
What really sucks is the first two volumes of Archives HAS been sequenced and finished, probably has the art completed, too, because Neil was picking out paintings for cover-art the same time he was thinking of what to include. That's 16 discs worth of music. The BIG reason it hasn't come out according to a Chicago Trib article that should be printed somewhere on one of the Neil sites out there is that Neil's manager, Elliot Roberts I think is his name, he said he 'personally KILLED' the project. Why? 'Cuz that's the kind of thing an artist releases after he's dead or retired and Neil isn't close to either. His words. Anyone familiar with Roberts knows he's the 'bad cop' in the Neil Young camp. If you ever have any business dealings with Neil or need an interview, anything, reporters and industry types always say that Neil's manager always step in as the bad cop.
