The BFI, through their periodical Sight & Sound, conducts a prestigious poll on the 10 greatest films ever made. They conduct this poll once every ten years; the first was around 1952, but until 1992, it only involved critics, scholars, and historians. A separate filmmakers' poll to coincide with the "critics" poll was begun in 1992.
