I just saw these recently:
THE GREAT ESCAPE
Richard Attenborough and others escape their WWII prison camp, only to be re-captured by the Nazis. On their way back, the Germans stop at open field and ask the prisoners to get out. As Attenborough talks with his second-in-command, he tells him that during these past few weeks of planning and scheming, he's "never felt more alive." Suddenly they hear the Nazis cock their machine guns and they're all shot to death.
THE SANDS OF IWO JIMA
After surviving a hellish beach invasion, and with victory within their grasp, John Wayne stops his men on a hillside and shares a cigarette. He tells them how he's never felt SO good, when suddenly a bullet hits him, immediately killing him.
