I heard a while back that BluRay has been cracked. I think it took the guy 3 weeks to do what was said would take several years.
Anyway, I am seeing some of the trusty old DVD rippers claim to be able to handle these newer high rez formats. I wondered if anyone here has burned backups of their own personal collections?

Videohelp.com is one of my favorite forums. There is just an amazing amount of information over there. Lots of kids and the obvious youtube generation = bottom end video makers, but for a well organized site with all the right tools for cracking and ripping DVDs, and then burning every format in the known universe you can't go wrong there. Then after you get your free tools downloaded, the Guides section has instruction for doing tons of things, lots of free sw.
I've been ripping a bunch of Criter. Collec. discs and burning (spiltting) them to 2 discs each to avoid recompression just to see how DVD Shrink works in the re-author mode just for fun.
Has anyone tried out the BluRay / HD disc rippers yet?
Then for serious video forum I should point out http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/index.php
That site can't be beat for advice on cameras and gear, tech, etc. Higher end players than videohelp for sure.
Dvifo has camera forums for the current models all organized neatly, I like that.
