The Day After

EDIT - 7:30 AM: Franken's now actually within a few hundred votes (again!) in his Senate race in MN - with 99% reporting. Back and forth they go.
As of 6 AM:
All kinds of things to analyze. First the downers. Looks like Stevens and Coleman pulled it out in Alaska and Minnesota - barring some sort of recount anomaly or uncounted ballot (or provisional) find. Stevens may go to prison and, once again, Palin will be thrust into the limelight as she chooses his Republican successor. 56 seats will have to do.
Oh...and that monster, Bachmann, won her House race as well. There's no justice sometimes.
The good stuff. The polls were pretty darned accurate this election compared to the actual results. Other than Missouri going to McCain (even though it hasn't been called as of 6 AM and may go through some sort of recount), Obama did indeed win all the swing states (again...assuming giving the uncalled NC to Obama).
Some of the final day, pre-election state polls were scary in their accuracy, with only a couple of small and different (i.e. pleasant) outcomes.
Rasmussen/ Zogby/ Actual
Ohio O 49 McC 49/ O 49.4 McC 47.4/ O 51 McC 47
Florida McC 50 O 49/ O 49.2 McC 48.0/ O 51 McC 49
Virginia O 51 McC 47/ O 51.7 McC 45.3/ O 52 McC 47
Missouri McC 49 O 49/ McC 48.8 O 48.8/ McC 50 O 49
Penn. O 52 McC 46/ O 51.2 McC 41.4/ O 55 McC 44
Col. O 51 McC 47/ No numbers just "Obama"/ O 53 McC 46
N. Ca. McC 50 O 49/ McC 49.5 O 49.1/ O 50 McC 49
Nev. O 50 McC 46/ O 53.2 McC 42.4/ O 55 McC 43
Ind. McC 49 O 46/ McC 50.4 O 45.1/ O 50 McC 49
PS: We ended up flipping 9 states from '04 - Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. Not a bad day at the races.
