I quit drinking early because I have to make a 3-hour drive to Providence tomorrow morning. Thankfully, I'm getting a natural high looking at that electoral map.

I have to laugh at the NBC still trying to paint this as a horse race - obviously for ratings.

The givens -- like CA, WA and OR -- will already put us over when they arrive in an hour or so.

I am eagerly awaiting my gay socialist black Muslim kit that I understand will soon be mailed out.

Oh, and this is going to play out all night, and it just gets better.

Guys we waited for eight years for this!!!

I told myself after 2000 that it is only for four years, it'll be ok. Then another four years. And then the damage to the Supreme Court and Attorney Generals.

I am going to watch each and every race finish and relish in the good will of the American people to do what was right and put aside their personal issues for a minute. This is indeed historic.

When was the last time a party was put out to pasture and rebuked with scorn so profoundly?

That, and they get in real hot water if they call it while the polls are still open in the west.

Which, considering how close Prop 8 is, is fine with me.

A whole party? I dunno. 1980/1984 was pretty crushing at the presidential level (525 electoral votes!), but for a complete repudiation of a party, you'd have to look to... '64?

This is indeed the Democratic Revolution. I've waited my entire adult life for this.

New Deal. Great Society. Now, hopefully some new Progressive landmarks.

Dave, the Republican part may not recover at all. And future elections may be based on the respective candidate running rather than the party they claim to be with. It got that bad. How very sad a state things had to get.

It's not impossible that the GOP is headed for civil war and perhaps even a split between the fiscal conservatives (Romney/Giuliani) and the religious right (Palin/Huckabee). We might be looking at the last gasp of the Dem/GOP duopoly.

Or, that could just be the Woodford Reserve talking.
