Expect plenty of disagreement. Just keep it civil.

Al Gore's son may have been speeding, smoking pot and popping pills - but at least he was driving a Prius.

The 24-year-old was arrested yesterday in his Toyota hybrid - which his father has championed because of its eco-friendly gas mileage - on the San Diego Freeway.

Al Gore 3rd was booked and held at an Orange County jail in Southern California until someone posted $20,000 bail. He left without a word, wearing sunglasses.

Gore, who has managed to rack up four arrests in the past seven years, was pulled over about 2:15 a.m. by county sheriff's deputies, who allegedly clocked him at 100 mph.

"He did state that he was the son of the vice president and he did admit to smoking marijuana," said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.

Deputies then searched the car, and Gore faced an inconvenient truth when they allegedly found a small amount of pot and mind-altering pills - Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall.

"He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs," Amormino said.

The blue Prius, which gets 55 miles per gallon, was impounded.

The arrest came just three days before the ex-veep launches Live Earth, a globe-spanning series of concerts to raise money to combat global warming.

It was unclear if the elder Gore had spoken to his son. A spokeswoman did not return calls.

Al the 3rd lives in Los Angeles and works for GOOD magazine, which describes itself as "media for people who give a damn."

The youngest of Al and Tipper Gore's four children, he had been best known for surviving a 1989 car accident that left him with massive injuries.

By his teenage years, little Al had developed a lead foot and a penchant for hard partying.

In the summer of 2000, he was charged with driving 97mph in North Carolina. A reckless driving charge was dropped, but he had to pay a $125 fine.

Two years later, he was ticketed by military police in suburban Virginia for drunken driving.

While a student at Harvard in 2003, he was arrested in Maryland on a pot-possession charge after cops stopped his Cadillac for not having its headlights on.

As a first-time drug offender, he was sentenced to a program that included substance-abuse counseling, urine testing and community service.

I wonder how many miles it took him to get to 100 mph in that car?

Drunk driving and pot smoking? His hard partying has nothing on some I could mention.

Yeah, if he wants to kick out the jams in a Toyota hybrid, he needs to pony up the $100+K for a Lexus LS600h.

Though he'll never get there if he keeps blowing his cash on dope.

Ryan, I think he would actually need some downers if he drove a Lexus with a lead foot. That's a nice automobile.

Why not.

A 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis. It's pretty much mint mechanically and cosmetically. At my age, I am a bit younger than most people who drive them.

What do you drive?
