I'm on vacation at my mom's place in NC at the moment, and the local paper carries the duck. I read the strip this morning and planned to check out the real story later, since I knew Tinsley was lying. Thanks for saving me the effort.

Does his syndicator know how fast and loose he plays with the facts? Interesting that King Features' site has an e-mail address for all of its cartoonists but him.

That strip is a perfect example of why Tinsley is an incompetent cartoonist. The blatantly false content aside, all we have is the duck hectoring us.

I'm no cartoonist, but why not something like this:

Visual: Duck talking on phone.

Panel 1: Duck: Hello, ACLU? Why aren't you arguing for the civil liberties of this girl in Nevada?

Panel 2: Phone Voice: Oh, I see the problem. You're assuming that we're acutally in *favor* of civil liberties.

Panel 3: Duck: So... your name sort of has the same meaning as the American Cancer Society?
Phone Voice: Don't tell anyone.

Not a laff riot, but at least it would be an effort.
