Quit while you're ahead, Kanye

Postby MK » Sat Sep 03, 2005 1:06 am

Did you see that live broadcast of Kanye West and Mike Myers asking for Hurricane aid? They had cue cards but Kanye improvised everything, putting Myers in a bit of spot. Kanye was stammering and rambling a lot, obviously nervous and emotional. It's really hard to watch, but reading a transcript, he makes a few valid points:

"I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family it says they are looting if you see a white family it says they are looking for food."

"We already realize a lot of the people that could help are at war now fighting another way, and they’ve given them permission to go down and shoot us."

Then...
"George Bush doesn't care about black people. Please--" Cut to Chris Tucker.
"When people speak to you about a preventive war, you tell them to go and fight it. After my experience, I have come to hate war." – Dwight D. Eisenhower

"Neither slave nor tyrant." - Basque motto

Hey, the truth hurts sometimes.
We were right about Vietnam. We were right about Nixon. We were right about Reaganomics. Trust us -- we're right about Bush, too.
