How long do you think it will be before we go liberate Syria?

I don't think we really will. We would be pushing our luck if we did. At this point, I think we still have a chance of the Arab world not totally lashing out against us. We got rid of a major pain in the ass for them. The next part is trickier, trying to influence a US friendly government in Iraq that the Arab world will approve of, and not overstaying there as a military presence.
Somehow, i'm thinking this getting rid of Saddam could all backfire on us, and a replacement government could prove to be worse than the last.

Whether Syria has any problems with the US boils down to whether or not they harbor Iraqi war criminals--that is, the ones on the playing cards(strange but effective gimmick, eh?). I don't get the impression we're setting ourselves up to go after other nations in that region--one of the major(if unstated)points of invading Iraq was to put the rest of the Middle East on notice that Saddam-like behavior wasn't going to be tolerated. Whether that will prove effective is an unknown quantity, and Grant has a point that we must be careful regarding the takeover government--we don't need a 'meet-the-new-boss-same-as-the-old-boss' situation, and certainly it would be a fatal error to install someone in power who is worse than Saddam(though that would be kinda tough, methinks).
Still too early to know much of anything about this. The war is not over, and the cleanup is going to take a lot of time.
