I'm serious. Just how does it happen? It's a goddamn turntable. What, is it made out of diamonds created in the intestines of royalty?

Or is it all about "superior craftsmanship?"

I laugh everytime I get one of those Acoustic Sounds catalogs, with the multi-thousand dollar turntables that have all the guts exposed and look like toys. It's fucking outrageous.

I have a Sony turntable that cost $200 and my needle drops are more than satsifactory. It's all about the stylus.

But I mean...how? It just boggles the mind. What would you DO to such a thing to make it cost that much?

(yes, I know it's likely just that the price in question has nothing to do with the cost of manufacturing it whatsoever, but still)

But that Milli Vanilli 12" dance mix has never sounded better!

Hey pal, how many $100K turntables have you designed? :x

Seriously, it's all about the trickle-down. In a few years, you'll be able to buy a $75K turntable utilizing the same technology. That's a 25% savings right there. The $75K model may not have the same classy medieval torture device/sex toy looks, but just think of how wonderful your $500 Tom Port-approved "hot stamper" pressing of Pretzel Logic will sound!

Personally, I'm waiting for a $200K gramaphone with a solid-gold hand crank. None of that nasty AC to get in the way of the infinite resolution of shellac.

What technology, though? Nobody's explained to me how isolating anything somehow costs that much money.

Isolation is expensive, my friend. I'm actually renting a second apartment just for my turntable. Some people may worry about the extra 100 feet of cabling that that requires. However, my investment in titanium Grover cables insures that there will be no smeared transients due to signal loss.

They'd better be building the cabling out of the intestines of unwanted, African orphans.

You been watching the new season of ATHF?

No need for that. I've got turntable powered by a suspended weight--gravity knows no hiccups.

I sell it to you cheap.

Hello everyone!
That amount of money is just ridiculous. I think they should include on video with a purchase of that nature, R&D, materials, and construction of the actual unit you receive. I really wonder what goes into a record player that costs *that* much.

Honestly, I think the design of a unit has much to how it's going to sound, But at the same time, at what point in price does the actual improvement stop? :?:
