Denon Dp-29 as "starter" 'table?

I'm looking to start listening to records, not really know too much about them. For now, I want something decent for < $200 that requires mimial effort. I'm expecting a general purpose receiver/amp to arrive soon (Marantz SR-800).

As of now I have my eye on the Denon DP-29 for $149. I'm sure later on I'll become interested in better equipment but for now I just want to start listening. Is there any reason not to get this?

Honestly, at that price point I would look for a used Denon rather than a new one. They made some rock-solid, excellent-sounding 'tables back in the 80's that would just kill that one.

I know it's a lot easier to buy one off the shelf, but I think you're better off buying one of their "classics."
