This thread on transients contains a typically lucid and concise explanation by Nika Aldrich of the relationship between 'high frequency transients', reproduction of >20kHz sound, analog vs digital filters, and the importance of phase linearity. In other words why using a 'super tweeter' MIGHT actually make sense, even if you can't hear anything above 20 kHz.
