Tascam DR-680 8-Track Portable Field Audio Recorder

Postby Jeff T. » Mon Feb 24, 2014 4:58 am

I've been thinking of buying this Tascam recorder for doing location tv/film sound recording. And I think I saw you Luke talking recently about it on another forum.

The current price on this unit is only $440 at B&H with free shipping.

I plan on getting an Sound Devices mixer later, and figured that the preamps in that would be very good. This could be used with a good mixer as well as standalone.

At that price it's almost like I can't afford to not buy this recorder. I am going to do some 24/192 - 96 needle drops and this would be a great thing to use for that purpose as well.

I've been using it for about a year for live recordings. There are a few quirks, but for the most part I've been very happy with it.
