Dave & all,

Not sure, but I think these FLAC's may be the real deal:

It's a brand new Purple Chick release.

Let me know your thoughts.

I can only listen to one track at a time at the moment, but it seems pretty cool. It seems like maybe the final source doesn't have NR, as there's plenty of hiss, but an earlier source did - those aren't really full range.

Wow, is all that echo really printed right on the SPLHCB vocal?

The frequency response on these is really weird, and some of the NR (earlier generation or not) is sort of distracting, especially as it involves the bleed-through on the tapes. That said: fascinating!

Dumb question: can you always hear those extra vocals on the "ahhh" section on ADITL? The isolated vocal track was the first time I ever noticed them.

I'm not near the CV...can they be heard (albeit buried) in the standard version? They seem to be locked into the track. Also interesting that we've never ever EVER heard that harpsichord before.

Dave, I think I can now make some of these out (now knowing that they are there), but it was difficult as they are buried in the mix. I had to use headphones and a somewhat high volume to make out the parts I could.

Luke, wasn't there a pepper video special a few years back with George Martin fiddling with some multi tracks? My memory may not be 100%, but I think I remember him isolating a vocal track with echo on a pepper track.

Gotta say that was pretty frickin cool. I haven't given that album a proper listen in probably 20 years. Paul's isolated bass is another highlight to me. No flashy notes from Paul, but he sure could pick 'em.

Yeah, it is pretty cool. I put the four seperate ADITL tracks into Adobe Audition and messed around with the multitrack mixer. Now, that was interesting and kind of fun.

The program where GM isolated the multis was the Disney Channel -"Making of Sgt. Pepper" special that aired in the early 90's.

With a bit of EQ, and some judicious use of Digidesign NR, these tracks can sound a bit better. They sound like they may have been safeties dubbed *to* a 1/4" inch 4-track(or possibly 1/2" 8-track) machine. After further listening, it seems that(possibly) 2 generations of Dolby NR or a generation of DBX or Dolby S, are there, un-encoded. Very strange.

She’s Leaving Home – String track. A few extra notes here and there along the timeline (across all four tracks) where edits were later made to remove an unwanted bit of Hewson's score.

Who is "Hewson?"
I'm wondering if yoiu meant "Leander..."
