Welcome Back
Emerson, Lake & Palmer's back catalog will be rereleased starting next year. The Shout! Factory label will reissue 10 of the progressive-rock trio's albums, and also has gained the rights to various unreleased recordings.
To kick off the campaign, a two-disc compilation titled The Essential Emerson, Lake & Palmer will hit stores in January.

In other news, ex-ELP frontman Greg Lake has scheduled two fall U.S. performances -- Oct. 20 in New York and Oct. 23 in Annapolis, Md.

Billboard Bits: Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Shout! Factory has acquired the catalog of progressive rock supergroup Emerson Lake & Palmer, Billboard.com has learned. The label will assume North American rights to 10 albums and a host of previously unreleased material. A reissue campaign will begin in January with a two-disc retrospective, "The Essential Emerson, Lake & Palmer."

Keyboardist Keith Emerson, bassist/guitarist Greg Lake and drummer Carl Palmer formed in 1969 and scored four top 10 albums on The Billboard 200 between 1971-1974. The trio is best known for tracks such as "Lucky Man," "Fanfare for the Common Man," "Touch & Go," "From the Beginning" and "C'est La Vie."

The group disbanded in 1979 but reunited to tour and record in the early 1990s. Its last album was 1994's "In the Hot Seat."

No, I don't know if the ELP catalogue will be *remastered* yet again.
I might assume so because a 2CD anthology set is coming out in January, but... ?

It is great to see mentioned that unreleased material may be released though.

Christ on a bicycle, do they realize how many ELP 'compilations' there are out there already, on craptastic budget labels?

This is one catalog that does not need revisiting. The only glimmer of interest is the 'previously unreleased material' but even I doubt there's much 'there', there.
