Those Russian George Harrison two-fers

Has anybody heard any of those Russian two-fer CDs? Are they just straight copies of the old Warner's/Dark Horse issues from the early 90s? I like the older Warner's mastering but tracking down the old discs is still pretty difficult, so I'd just as soon get the Russians if they are clones of the Warner's mastering.

Which ones? There're at least two batches. The CDMaximum ones are pretty much copies of the Warners discs...I have one earlier run on Vil-Art (with some nicely manipulated artwork, it must be said) that seems to be tweaked a bit.

Are both batches configured the same way (ie, Dark Horse/33 1/3, George Harrison/Somewhere in England, Extra Texture/Gone Troppo)? If so, I don't know which versions I'm talking about... I just see a bunch of them configured this way, for sale on half.com and amazon.

No, they're not all the same way. The one with George Harrison/Somewhere in England (the cover has pictures of both albums in little boxes, right?) is CD-Maximum. The Vil-Art ones are REALLY old (from 1995) and have far-more-creative covers.
I went through a period of being fascinated with Russian pirate releases. While they're all over the place now (I'm surprised it took so long, but I really wish they didn't pop up as much as they do...90% of the results for "Lennon walls bridges" on eBay are pirates), there was a period where you never really saw 'em outside of Russia. Those early efforts could often be really interestingly designed. The CDMaximum ones are pretty (I suppose), but unimaginative.
In any case, I'm surprised that you're having trouble tracking down the old Dark Horse titles. I see them around all the time. Any in particular you need?

George Harrison and Somewhere in England are the two I'm looking for. The only ones I'm finding online are out of my price range (I don't want to pay more than $15 apiece tops). Maybe I just need to be more fanatical about monitoring ebay... the auctions I've watched have all gotten bid up beyond a reasonable price. They aren't turning up in used shops around here either, aside from Cloud 9, which I've already got.

If I see them, do you want me to grab 'em? I recently saw SiE.

BTW, why *do* you want them?

Thanks, but I actually finally managed to get them cheap on ebay.
Why do I want them? I like the way they sound.
