Gilmour is on record as saying he doesn't care much for Animals (which is shocking to me because I consider that his finest playing with Pink Floyd), so that might explain why they didn't play any of that album post-Waters. And it's no shock that they wouldn't want to cover any of TFC, anymore than they would cover Radio KAOS.

Well...that's definitely Gilmour on "Fletcher," isn't it?

I'm reading a book on Floyd now and was surprised to find this out. There is some great guitar work on that record. Repetitious though some may say, I dig the outro solo on "Sheep."

I've also read Gilmour say nice things abotu Animals , in interviews. So it probably depends on which day you ask him.

I'm probably misremembering, but I seem to recall his band attempting one of the 'side two' tracks (Pigs or Sheep) from Animals , on his '85 'About Face ' solo album tour, when I saw them in NYC..

Yes, he definitely plays on Fletcher & Not Now John, but I think he probably felt like a studio musician on that album.

Look at me, getting inside his head ...

Did they do either "Sheep" or "Dogs" on the '87 tour?

Not that I know of. They opened with "Echoes" at the first few gigs, but dropped it by the time I saw them (November '87) in favor of "Shine On" (as heard on Delicate Sound of Thunder). (Small bit of trivia -- the live tracks on the "On The Turning Away" single were taken from the show immediately *before* the one I saw. IMO the performances are much better than the somewhat more tired renditions on DSOT.) The other pre-87 tracks (as I recall) were:

One Of These Days
Time
On The Run
Money
Us And Them
Wish You Were Here
Welcome To The Machine
Another Brick In The Wall II
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell

I didn't see them on the Division Bell tour, but as I remember they did several shows with a full DSOTM, plus "Astronomy Domine" from time to time. To the best of my knowledge they've never done anything from Animals.

Ryan's memory of the 87 playlist is very good. I saw that tour twice (in Cleveland and Pittsburgh) and they opened with Shine On both times. And nothing from Animals.

They've never done any of Animals since reforming in the 80's.
