Norah Jones broke my hifi

At Ryan's behest, and with much trepidation, I recently purchased the new Norah Jones CD.
Upon trying to play the thing for the first time, I was greeted with distortion. During certain louder vocal passages, the speakers would crap out like they were blown. First time I'd ever noticed that. The setup is:
Sony DVP-NS500V -> Mitsubishi TV -> Aego 2 powered speakers
Thinking my speakers were screwed up, I popped in Buddy Holly FTOMT (it was $3 on eBay). That was fine. So I tried a female vocalist, Gillian Welch. That was fine.
So I moved on to system #2:
Sony SCD-CE775 -> Rotel receiver -> Aego 2 powered speakers
That sounded fine. I tried it in my G5 going through Monsoon speakers. That was fine. I tried my Sennheiser HD600s going directly into the CE775. That was fine.
Until I put the receiver in standby mode. Then the headphones started crapping out, just like they did on the DVD player going through the other set of Aegos. But they still sounded fine on other CDs.
When I turned the receiver back on, the headphones sounded fine.
I have since tried the CD with a Sony portable CD player, going through an Airhead amp to my Grado SR60s. That was fine.
So what the hell is going on? Why does this *one* CD distort in two scenarios? I'm bewildered.
