Hey all,
I vaguely remember some recommendations given re. Them CDs at sh.tv, but of course I can't access any of 'em. Could someone here who hasn't been MagiBanned make a search and report back?
FWIW, I remember a few people liking the two CDs on the London label ("Them Featuring Van Morrison" and "Them,") but I don't remember the specifics.

Anyway, I digress.
The recommended "Them" CD was the "Them featuring Van Morrison" comp, the early London label pressing from the late 80's. I think the catalog number is London 810-165-2. It looks very similar to the Rolling Stones London CD's. Flat transfers, clean mono, true stereo where available, there is one gnarly fake stereo cut. I think it's "Stormy Monday," but the disc clearly marks every track mono, stereo, or in this case electronically processed stereo. Much better sounding than Jon Astley's two disc "Story of Them."
Still missing a few great Them recordings, most notably "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" (fans of Beck's "Odelay" will recognize it right off the bat), but otherwise pretty good.
The forum also recommended the early London CD pressing of John Mayall & the Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton over anything else (the various remasters from the last few years, the MFSL Ultradisc II), so whoever did the CD mastering for London seems to know their stuff.

Errm...as far as I know the US pressing is a digital clone of the UK CD, and it's nothing to write home about. It's not bad, but I do think various other issues are better.
FYI, MFSL did the Stones CDs, while I'm fairly sure somebody in house did all those other discs.
