Simon Before Garfunkel (JPN LP) = Paul Simon Song Book?

Postby Patrick M » Sun Sep 28, 2003 11:12 pm

What is this thing?

It would appear to have the same content as The Paul Simon Song Book, but is anyone sure?

Song Book examples:

Since we like to pick nits here, the LP was hardly recorded "before" Garfunkel. Another interesting tidbit: I've never seen this LP in mono, but the JPN copy claims to be. And that's a 1970's style JPN CBS label, isn't it? Weird.

Random point: I have this on CDR back home, if anybody wants it when I have access to it.

I've got a barely-played LP as part of the Paul Simon Collected Works box. If you want, we can make that part of Dylan Day, whenever that might happen.

What do you mean? I thought it was *only* available in mono. :?:

Sorry, I kinda misspoke...I mean I have the Songbook on CD, sourced from vinyl. Haven't listened to it much.

I think it is only mono, but every LP I've seen has it listed as stereo (jacket and label).

I did some poking around the Paul Simon usenet archives, and it looks like this JPN LP is the same as Song Book. Interestingly, one person claimed there were separate catalog #s in the UK for mono and stereo pressings.

David Goodwin -> I know it's sourced from vinyl, but which LP was used? Original UK? UK reissue? Early 80s US? Just curious.

I have absolutely no idea, actually.
