Who is going to discount these things? CircuitCity.com has them for $13.99 each, plus a big box set for $250.
Buy.com has them for $14.99, and Best Buy...well, their website SUCKS.
Oh yeah, and these are DIGIPACKS. ARRRRRGGGGH!

I used the super-secret SH.tv code (go peruse the "Dylan SACD Box Set" thread over there for details) to order the box set from Red Trumpet for $176. That's about eleven bucks apiece.
Of course, I cheaped out and took the free USPS shipping, so I probably won't get them until Halloween, but it's not like I'm going to have time to listen to them much right away, anyway.
Can't wait. I've been waiting for a Blood on the Tracks remaster for what seems like centuries.

Have you heard
Tangled from the sampler? I've only heard the redbook layer.
I guess the New York versions are lost to the prophetical dustbin of history.

No, I haven't heard the sampler, though I've heard good things about it. What'd you think of the redbook?
As for as the NYC stuff, we at least got some of it on Bootleg 1-3 and Biograph, and there are always the "real" boots. For me, though, the actual album is so burned into my brain that *anything* other than those versions sounds wrong.

Shocking admission: I have the New York boot on CD, but not the actual "Blood on the Tracks" album (I have vinyl, and I like most of you have been waiting for the inevitable reissue program for ages now).

I'm optimistic.
I wish Best Buy or somebody would put all these out at $12 next week, though.

Yes, I've got a copy of the vinyl that was purchased the week of release (not by me). It's well-loved, but I can tell a clean copy would easily best the CD.

Well, I'm counting on those of you who buy the things to provide A/B critiques of SACD and redbook layers. I don't have a SACD player as there are so damned few titles I'm interested in. Dylan's another story. If the SACD layer *trounces* the redbook, I'll spend the cash. But as Dr. Ron's going to be taking possession of a Benchmark DAC [it's all the rave] within days, the difference between the two layers may not be as great for me as it will be for you guys and your inferior playback systems. Oh. And my computer *kills.* I don't have a car, but if I did it would certainly be cooler than yours. *And* I've been told more than once at the bathhouse that I'm, er . . . rather well endowed as well. You guys are cool, but I be mega cool.

That's *all*?? Oh. I dig your new a-va-tar. I'm a big Uriah Heep fan myself.
