Odelay Deluxe

...so it appears as if:

1) The original album is at least somewhat remixed. Uh. Why? Hotwax with double-tracked vocals? The effect at the beginning of "New Pollution" altered? Sissyneck slightly extended? Has anybody figured out how/why/what else was changed?

2) Some of the bonus tracks appear to be lossy-sourced, especially "Deadweight." Huh?

They probably downloaded them off of iTunes.

In all seriousness, I saw a couple of reviews on Amazon that allude to this being a remix, but nothing concrete.

I mean, parts of it definitely are...or a different assembly, or a raw mix, or something (it sounds very similar to the original, regardless).

But the very idea of using lossy sources on a commercially released product...I mean, could they be more lazy? Between this and the "we accidentally borrowed these from an inaccurate fansite" lyrics, this project seems to scream poor attention to detail.

I recall there was talk that Weezer's blue album was remixed for its deluxe edition release, I tried googling but came up empty-handed.

How does the first disc sound overall?

The Nirvana box set also used lossy and cassette-sourced tracks instead of master tapes.

Apart from the alterations, it sounds *really* similar to the regular album...similar mixing and everything.

I wonder if some problematic samples were the culprit here?
