Apparantly unbootlegged, this recently discovered, professional recording pre-dates Five Live Yardbirds by several weeks. It features two songs The Yardbirds never recorded: 'Someone To Love' and 'The Sky Is Crying'. This is an official release which has been authorised by the band and comes with liner notes, which will include exclusive interviews with all surviving members.

Yep, definitely a welcome release, the Yardbirds are strong contenders for the Highest Number Of Crap Greatest Hits Repackages award - does anyone know where this St George's Hall was? Which town I mean. And I assume it'll be of a similar sound quality as 'Five Live' - although stereo would be nice!
On a similar note, has anyone ever heard the stereo 'Zoot!' album? (Zoot Money's Big Roll Band Live At Klook's Kleek, 1966) I have it in mono and there's a note on the back saying 'also available in stereo, cat no: (etc)' and I'd love to hear it in true stereo, if it is such a thing. Even the late 70s cassette reissue, described as stereo, is in mono. Stereo copies appear on eBay for big money but I'm not interested in one if it's just fake stereo...

Actually, I'm right now listening to a true stereo version of Zoot's "Live At Klook's Kleek" (U.S. Epic BN 26241). Great album. I remember looking for it for several years and finding (sealed, for $1) about six blocks from where I lived, at the time.

Thanks for posting that info Hobokenlad, it's nice to know at last there is a true stereo version! Recently I've seen reissues of the US version of the LP (different sleeve) - possibly bootlegs - but curously only in mono. I think your copy was one the best dollar purchases you'll ever make: There's a really nice looking copy of the UK version on eBay at the moment, I tested the water with some bids but still hadn't reached the reserve at $76.00...

I LOVE this period of music, ALOT ! I return to the music bins, it seems, only anxious, of music from this period.

It seems that ALL of the music, has the sound, is so full of so much "promise of things to come or happen".

Where did It all go wrong ?
