Pink Floyd Japan DSOTM: Is the hype warranted?

There was yet another Japanese-DSOTM-CD thread yesterday on SHtv. I've always been thoroughly confused by the DSOTM discussions, but I confess I have also always been curious to hear one of those issues to see if they're as good as the hype. (When I finally got a copy of the black-triangle Wings Greatest, I have to say I was impressed, at least with certain cuts.)

Can anyone who has one of those non-TO Japanese discs (black triangle, black face, whatever) post a small lossless sample somewhere so that I could decide whether it's worth the time & cash to track one of these down? For comparison's sake, I already have copies of an old "unremastered" U.S. Capitol CD, the UD and UDII MFSLs, and the 20th anniversary edition, and I also have the SACD.

Thanks.

Note that the CD has pre-emphasis, so the .flac file won't sound like the actual CD. Maybe there is some software that corrects ("de-emphasizes") the pre-emphasis, but I don't know. Otherwise you have to burn it on a CD with pre-emphasis flag set.

Strange, EAC indicates that track 1 has pre-emphasis, but the other tracks not...I guess that is a case where EAC is incorrect.

I'll try burning it using Toast w/Jam to set the PE flag.

Thanks! Just out of curiosity, which variation of the disc is this?
