The 'target' CD is on Pedro's and I compared the first track, "Monday Morning," to the CD I got from BMG back in 1998 or 1999. First of all, the BMG disc has none of that RE shit pressed into the inner rim, it's just "1 2281-2 SRC+10" so I didn't think this was ever remastered (just like the "Pretenders" s/t CD, which I bought two years ago and is exactly like the original 'target' CD - i.e. go pick up the Pretenders s/t CD now if you want a flat transfer, and that's Hoffman's assessment, not some cultist who's never heard the actual master before).
Anyway, long story short, they sound identical. There's a longer gap (the blacked out silence that opens the disc) at the beginning of one of the tracks, so some change was made when they repressed it, but otherwise it's pretty much the same sound. Anyone else agree?
