Ruby goddamn Tuesday

Did we ever get an explanation re. this track?

Did ICE ever grow some balls and get us an explanation?

Do we, three years later, still not know what the heck happened?

I mean, this isn't freakin' Watergate.

Someone's gonna have to check out the new redbooks and see how they differ.

Those stereo dropouts/anomolies in "As Tears Go By" bother me. They're totally absent from the "true mono" mastering, even though they sound identical!

I don't believe it's a conspiracy. It seems pretty self-evident that:

1. Someone pulled the wrong tape

2. Record company doesn't want to bother with the expense of fixing it

Well...exactly. I've just accepted it and gone on my merry way.

Does anybody here have a huge stack of the old ABKCO discs lying aroudn that they wouldn't mind A) donating for a while, or b) FLACking onto a DVD? I ask because we STILL can't do meaningful comparisons of the original albums of some of these discs...the only old ABKCOs I actually own are Hot Rocks and Through the Past. The rest I have on various pirates*/sundry CDRs I've compiled over the years.

(*one run of these pirates has some typographical errors that I find really amusing, for some reason. "Birween the Buttons?" "Too Much Bloon?' Nothing, though, quite tops the Russian pirate's spelling of a certain Kate Bush album, suddenly called "Loinheart.")

You should know this, but this is what I have ABKCO-wise:

ENH
12x5
Now!
Out Of Our Heads
BTB
Satanic
TTPD
HR
MHR

Many others exist on tape, FWIW.

I still have the ABKCO singles box. I can FLAC it for you if you like.

I sold everything else when the hybrids came out. I kept the box for the huge lyric book and (on topic!) the original Ruby Tuesday.

Well, Luke, as I'm suddenly in the mood to do this again...I wouldn't mind a big flac disc (including You're a Very Lovely Woamn) at all.

Really.

Ryan: Harold Washington Library had the old Singles box, so I have that now. The ABKCOs I've managed to ACQUIRE is occasionally different from the ones I actually own. The pirates extend that a bit, but I'd really rather not rely on 'em if possible.

As much as I'd like to, now isn't going to be a good time. Something about selling a house...

My house would be a great temporary storage for them.

BITCH.

sh.tv would be a great place to solicit for them, but I guess that sort of thread would get shut down pretty quickly.

Oddly enough, some tracks from the old ABKCO BTB seem to sync with the London tracks...this would support our previously-unsupported assertion that they were both working from the same digital tapes for this album, with ABKCO choosing to fuck around with theirs.

They do? I guess I never tried it.

I only tested a few, and while I couldn't get them to sync exactly (the waveforms weren't EXACTLY the same, even on songs like She Smiled Sweetly), they seemed to drift precious little...and may not have drifted at all
