Who here has:
a) The SACD?
b) The DVD-A?
I ask because there's no way I'm buying this damn album again. As I don't have surround capability, I'd really appreciate it if someone here could copy me the Dolby Digital files from the DVDs, so I can demultiplex 'em at home.

Do you just want the music, or is the SACD and DVD-A masterings supposed to be better than the CD mastering? (I don't have it, but I pulled the bonuses off of Pedro's. Not bad, but I'd stick with the 1993 or MFSL CD's if you're only going to hear the stereo mix.)

Thanks for the "Young Man Blues," a MUCH better mix.

I'm assuming you got it when that thread was first around? I had to move my MP3s last week, and haven't moved them back yet...

Yeah, I burned it on to a CD. The transfer really isn't bad, in terms of sound quality it sounded better than the alternate version on Astley's Odd & Sods reissue.

Fang-o did a transfer a few years ago, and mine ended up coming out just as good. Perhaps a tad better, as the piece of vinyl I used didn't have the big pop at the start of the song that his did. Unfortunately The House That Track Built isn't the best sounding LP.

This doesn't stop me from wanting the AC3 track.

You could just come here and listen in 5.1...

Has anyone speed corrected the alt take of YMB on Odds and Sods?

I never liked that enough to care...

Yeah, when I was compiling a 4 disc set of rarities, combining bonus tracks and compilations from years past, but I ended up dropping it.
The performance is surprisingly close to the original, but there's enough bum notes to distinguish the two (I think there's one in the first few bars - listen for the guitar and hum a long). Plus, it's a different length.
It's 7.5% slower, so adjust accordingly.

That may be the biggest Astley fuck up yet. Using the wrong take AND mastering it 7.5% slow. How a pro mastering engineer doesn't notice when something is 7.5% slow in beyond me. What a fucktard. Sure, that take isn't nearly as good as the released version but I'd still like to hear a speed corrected version on day.
