Everyone on SH.tv seems to be of the opinion that the mono mix of Again is superior. I've never heard it. Is it all it's cracked up to be? Any major differences?

I've only listened to it a few times, but...

Mr. Soul (yet *another* mix) is interesting. Same basic tracks as the stereo, but a few differences in mixing.

Hung Upside Down seems a bit stronger/harder in mono, IIRC.

Other than that, I don't remember anything blowing me away. That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy an official release (a lot more worthwhile than the first album in mono, IMO), but I don't think it's *that* big of a deal.

I've got it on LP. I like the mix a lot, but I haven't compared it to the stereo extensively.

So the mono album mix of Mr. Soul is different from the mono single mix, or did I misunderstand you? Do you remember what the difference is? And is that also the case with Bluebird?

(I have Leppo's once-posted-then-deleted .wav download of the 45 mix, and it rocks!)

See the aforementioned thread for more details and clips.

Mr. Soul:
mono mix 1 - Box set. Lots of different guitars.
mono mix 2 - Oldies single. Closer to the stereo mix, but some different guitars.
mono mix 3 - LP. Same instrumentation as stereo mix, but mixed differently.
stereo mix - LP.
fold down of stereo mix - Newer oldies single.

Bluebird:
mono mix 1 - Oldies single. ~2:00. No lead guitar at fade.
mono mix 2 - LP. Full length. Similar to stereo mix.
stereo mix - LP.
fold down of stereo mix - Newer oldies single. Fades ~2:00.
