The yellow-label mono Money LP arrived today, and I just cleaned it up and listened to most of Side 1.

First impressions: The sound is definitely cleaner, punchier, and less dull overall than it is on any version of the original stereo mix I've heard, particularly on cuts like "Concentration Moon" and "Mom and Dad." It's a lot closer to what I've always wished the album could sound like, though the recording is still not going to win any hi-fi awards.

The seller advertised its condition as "VG," and I'd say it plays better than that based on what I've heard so far.

I am *equally* as stimulated (if not more so).

(that said, it really is as much the "mix" as the recording...I dunno. The remix--at least parts of it--sounds really good)

Good point ... I actually listened to the remix a few days ago, for the first time in years, and you can tell the sound quality of the individual tracks is better than might have been expected.

I just confirmed via an email to MoFi that they're working on a gold disc. They of course wouldn't provide any details, and depending on who they're working with (i.e. Ryko or the ZFT), this could be either interesting or a fiasco on the scale of the Lennon reissues. Here's hoping.

It really seems like an odd choice for them, though of course I'm intrigued. The mono and stereo versions would fit together quite nicely on a single disc, but I'd be really surprised if they went that way ...

I would also be really surprised, because it's so fucking obvious. What else could they do?

Their recent releases have been so lacklustre that I wouldn't be surprised if they just used the ZFT digital master.

OOh! Xenu or J Partyka are you still around? I am very much looking for WOIIFTM in mono. Are you on soulseek? I've never seen it shared so far. (Did find a couple of mono singles though)(but not brain police) Anyway, could there be a chance for me to find this thing? Thanks!

Jeff transferred the mono LP and I remastered it. It was really really noisy but I managed to clean up about 90% of the noise. Dave or Jeff or I can surely send you a copy.

Yep. Someone may have also put it up on Oink or Demonoid a few times.

Drop me a PM.
