What's the best version on CD?

The MFSL, but you should burn a copy with the original "Eyesight To The Blind" from the 1993 Labson CD if you want something closer to the original album.

How does the Labson CD sound? I know that WhiteFang likes it, but I would like to hear more.

Fairly close to the MFSL, but with the high end jacked up slightly.

I prefer the MFSL myself.

I've heard that the MFSL matches the original UK Track LP (ie, the Track has the lower-octave-sung Eyesight to the Blind).

What Fang says:

"Other Comments: Somewhere after the original release, UK copies from had a completely different vocal track on "Eyesight To The Blind". I've read before that this occurred when Polydor changed printers from Ernest J. Day & Co., to Howard's Printers (Slough), Ltd. However, since I have a copy with the alternate vocal on the original printer -- I guess that's not true. Before it went out of print in the 80's, they changed the vocal back to the original. The same vocal track can be found on the MFSL <gold> CD."

What the hell does the cover printer have to do with the pressing differences?

Good question for Fang!

Indeed.

Don't bother asking him. I wouldn't be surprised if all aspects of his analysis were totally fabricated.

Given how many digitally identical discs he claims to hear differences with, I guess I wouldn't be surprised.
I'm jealous of his record collection, though!

Wasn't it $10,000,000 last year at this time?

Damn, he's pricing that thing to move!
