How did that turn out?

I think I've seen a couple of stereo LPs on eBay, but I haven't made them a priority to get...

That's "Missing You" from Rhodes Less Travelled. Tell me how it compares, sir.

Try this out for size:

Missing You

Taken right from the Rhino best-of LP.

Did you ever get the Rev Ola disc?

Blah. Busy on 12/3?

Nice transfer.

Great song. Should've been the A side.

12/3? I might actually be in Chicago then, but I'm not sure at the moment.

I never got the Rev-Ola disc. Why bother? I have pretty much all of the purchased-Rhodes I'll ever want.

Rev-Ola also seems to have become the "let's recomp discs using old CD masters" company. Dig their almost verbatim reissue of Varese's "Where Were You When I Needed You."...

David - Have you ever compared the masterings of this title? Are they absolutely identical?

I have the Varese issue and it's painful to listen to - my beat to shit Dunhill vinyl wins for me in this case. Pity. I'm fond of those PF Sloan bubblegum tunes.

No, I haven't...I looked at the tracklisting (basically the Varese plus a few) and assumed.

Care to post a few brief FLAC samples? I'll do the same, if you want.

Crap. Same deal - don't have the bulk of my discs. That, and I'm still trying to beg whatever time I can on this computer I'm using.

If and when the situation changes, I'd love to though.

Indeed.

We'd probably still be stuck with two CDs titled "Listen, Listen" though.

Dave, there's your FLAC of "I Am a Rock." It's a bit bright, but I can deal it. Tell me if this sounds like your disc.

Giving it a quick listen over this laptop, it sounds kinda bright and hard like the Varese. But, it's really hard for me to tell under these current conditions - speakers the size of thimbles. Hell, maybe it's better.

Whenever I get home again, I'll try and dig out the Varese.

...oops.

I'm an idiot. I thought you had the REV-OLA and found it hard to listen to.

That *Was* the Varese CD I posted.

(sorry)

Ignore it, consequently.

LOL! No problem, that explains it then.

FWIW, Rev-Ola has a brief clip of 'Only When Your Lonely' posted on their site. So, maybe you can give that a listen for comparison's sake.

Anyone know about this?

American Dream
Emitt Rhodes
AMG Rating:
Label: Lilith
Format: CD
Release Date:7/18/2006

Apparently also on 180g vinyl. WTF is "Lilith"? Wonder if this will just be a clone of the Japanese CD, or a new mastering.

BTW, I've mentioned this to a few people before:

"Merry-Go-Round (Unreleased) (Hip-O-Select)"

Apparently nothing is in the works yet, but when/if something happens (perhaps next year), it might be everything MGR/ER. Would be nice to get tape sources for Missing You/Highway and maybe stereo mixes for those singles...
