"Get Back" original acetate hi-res scans?

Postby MK » Mon May 02, 2005 6:04 pm

Does anyone know where I can get hi-res scans of this exact cover?

These are small-res scans of an acetate that's either the original or of a booted forgery that claims to be. Either way, it's the best-looking one, IMO. (the site providing the above images does not have hi-res versions, these are the best it has to offer).

I checked Bootlegzone and a bunch of other sites, and they don't have this exact cover: some similar-looking covers, but in crappy quality.

I have an LP bootleg with that cover but I don't have a scanner big enough to accomodate it...

And, boy, does the LP sound like shit.

How big is your scanner? If an LP can fit in the "long" direction, I could piece together the two scans per cover (I've done it a number of times). Assuming the scans are decent, of course.

It's big enough lengthwise. I'll bring the LP to work and see what I can come up with.

Cool! If you could scan it, that would be great!

Too bad about the sound, but I was just interested in the sleeve artwork. It looks better than any of the CD boots I've seen, not just the small details in the layout, but even the photo quality, as well.

That's why I bought it, actually. I was shocked at how good the darn thing looked! Once I figured out that the LP itself was crap-sounding, I framed it, but I'll get it out and bring it in.

So it turns out that my scanner is just ever-so-slightly short (1cm-ish), so I apologize first for that, and hope that the scans I made are usable (they look pretty good). There's also one major difference from the scans above - the Parlophone logo and the EMI Records Ltd. copy, as well as everything underneath (and to the right of the APPLE RECORDS LIMITED copy), are replaced by the old EMITEX CLEANING MATERIAL blurb-in-a-circle. Frankly, that seems more authentic to me, but what the heck do I know.
Also, Get Back at the top left (above "The Beatles") is in red.

Luke, if you would let me know what format you need the files in, and also where I can stick them, that'd be great.

High quality JPEGs via e-mail are fine.

I e-mailed the files a while ago. Let me know if you didn't get them, Luke.

Got them, Jeebus. I won't be able to do anything with them till tonight, if I'm lucky. I'm doubting I'll be lucky.

Ok, so I'm a bit slow...

Image

Full res version here.

The area where I spliced the two scans together is nearly seamless, but there's a spot on the right (vertically from the B) that had some type of scanner issues. I blended it, but if you look closely you can still see it.

Also, it looks like the bottom may have been cut off a bit.

Let me do the back now...
