Steely Dan's Aja on CD

Postby thomh » Thu Sep 16, 2004 6:03 am

Leppo has supplied a link where you can compare (what is purported to be) SH's version with (supposedly) Nichols' version.

It cuts back and forth at 30-second intervals.

Japanese - US JVC - Japanese - US JVC

The US JVC is (supposedly) SH's version.

My 1984 *U.S.* AAD version (MCAD-37214 DIDX 55) sounds exactly like the Japanese (supposedly Nichols) version.

Grant says his version does not sound like either of them.

Grant, could you provide an MP3 of this version for comparison?

Update: Steve denied that the US JVC CD is his mastering. (Wasn't this apparent with the prominent top end?)

I could, but I have no where to post it. Besides, unless the bit-rate was high enough, all the information on the CD need for my evidence would be skewed.

So, compress a representative track (or section) at 'insane' (highest bitrate). or as a lossless FLAC file. If you email it to me , I will find a place to post it.
