I get it now. This is an audiophile thread! I only like vinyl - the original hi-rez medium!!! Tho I also luv Ess Ay Cee Dees mastered by Steve!
Since none of you know anything (have you checked your systems?), I'm telling you that everybody knows that the best pressings of Who's Next are, in order:
1. 1981 Peruvian MCA LP with matrix number S-282827363663333773 -U (West Lima Repartmiento pressing plant)
2. 1971 Chad Decca LP (Pressed in Chowchilla, California, strangely enough!)
3. 1976 Japanese MCA repress. Well, sounds identical to the second state original Jordanian Decca LP, but has a matte finish cover with a slightly darker tint on the back cover. A must for Who fans! I scored one on ebay for $12,465, so bow down before me.
4. 1991 DCC LP acetate, mastered by hand by you-know-who with a 600 carat diamond and a tube-powered knitting needle. Blows away the master tape!
Anyone else going to see Fabian and Alvin Lee play together at the State Fair shed next week? I can't wait to chide them about the terrible state of their cee dee catalog and put a plug in for Steve!
SAVE THE BEATLES CATALOG!
FUK SMILEY MAN EQ!
VIVA MONO/STEREO!

Funny that you should ask, because ever since my wife left me for some weird reason I can't figure out
, I've devoted all my time to cataloging Who's Next matrix numbers
. I like these ones:
2983838383-32983488383-38347764545 (has 1/2 second of Baba O'Reilly violin reverb with channels reversed
)
238474-2828728282 C (very rare Mongolian Deram pressing. A disgruntled pressing plant worker spit on the lacquer, considerably smoothing the high end of "Goin' Mobile" at 1:37, around 48 KHz. Yeah, my golden ears can hear those frequencies on vinyl.
)
383483833 - 287326438678490219-0292B (Hungatron 1/4 speed mastered. Some say it's glassy, but they need to check their systems.
)
23837373783 - D - 03 (Greenland
Odeon pressed by Icelandic Decca)
I can't stand to listen to any of the cee dees
cause of all those spaces between the digital
samples. Ears are analog
and it's not natural to have stepped silence between the sound pulses. Cee dees
are enough for crap like women
singing and playing and stuff.
On a related note
, I cry when I think of John Lennon
leaving Cynthia
for Yoko.

I can't stand to listen to any of the cee dees

The supply of new material seem inexhaustible, so I'd say, no.
Maybe Luke should set up a forum specifically for Hoffman parody posts, where we can all repeat the same jokes over and over and over...
You mean, move them to the rancid snakepit? Works for me.
What I;d really like to see is a link in each post, pointing to the 'original'.
Sometimes they're even funnier.

ROTFLMAO. My sides, my sides. Stop, you're killing me.
It's just a hunch, but I'm guessing that you might have a lot in common with My Avatar Is A Hot Babe. You two should contact each other...it might be the start of a beautiful friendship.
Hey, wouldn't it be great if (by some incredible cosmic alignment) another new member registered here, with the name of, say, My Avatar Is A Musician That Hasn't Made Good Music In Over 20 Years, and wrote sidesplitting posts about how there hasn't been a decent guitar or amp made since 1965, and how he's practically an honorary Beatle because he uses the exact same rig as George Harrison, right down to the guitar strap and strings?
Or how about if (by some even more incredible cosmic alignment) yet another new member registered here, with the name of, say, Mediocre Old Album Avatar That I Think Proclaims To The World Both My Wonderfully Eclectic Taste In Music And That This Album Is A Must Listen But Actually Identifies Me As A Pathetic Geezer That Hasn't Outgrown The Dinosaur Bands He Listened To In High School, and wrote sidesplitting posts about meeting one of his gray, balding, paunchy, but still long haired idols, who can "play rings around" today's "whippersnappers" even though he's recovering from his second quadruple bypass, and BTW "is a really great guy"?
Just think - in that case, the four of you could go and start your own very special forum. I'd maybe even join it (if you'd have me).

You might be thinking of me -- I grabbed a few pre-remix MCA discs (Numbers, Leeds, O&S) in Toronto a while back, and the old Polydor Sell Out in Tokyo. (For never having been out of the country before, I've been busy this summer. I'm covering the Ts. Next, Turkmenistan.)
So, with invaluable CD-R help from Luke, I've got a pretty good set of pre-remix CDs:
Sings My Gen - MCA
Quick One - Polydor (CD-R)
Sell Out - MCA (CD-R), Polydor
Tommy - MCA 1-CD, MFSL (CD-R)
LAL - MCA, Polydor (CD-R)
Who's Next - MCA (Canadian)
Quad - MFSL (CD-R)
O&S - MCA
Numbers - MCA
WAY - MFSL
It's Hard - MCA
