I'm glad he couldn't resist. His replies were accurate and polite, whereas I could not have promised to be the latter replying to idiocies about information capture, like those posted for the gazillionth time, by the like of Markus.
Now, whether he educated anyone there is debatable. Witness, for example, Gort Bob Lovely's heel-digging, fact-ignoring, point-ignoring reply, which boiled down to "I DON'T CARE ABOUT SCIENCE AND DATA, ANALOG IS MORE EMOTIONAL AND IT"S THE PURELY HUMAN WAY TO GO!" Which , like so much audiopphile cant, is a claim back-loaded with mulish assumptions. THomH's reply to that neatly addressed its central fallacy.
It's as if the analog faithful reflexively have to reassert their credo whenever they feel threatened; maybe it comforts them. Either that, or Gorts have to reassert the 'analog' line whenever they feel the 'balance' might be shifting.
