New vinyl must be such a cash-cow. I'm always amazed by how expensive those things are. Yes, they're deluxe, and yes they have a limited audience, but still...$39.99? WOW. Many vinyl shops in Chicago have only "new" vinyl in stock, and the prices are out of this world.
That said, the Red album costs that much, and I've never figured out how that was justified.
So it's going to be called "Let It Be Naked" ?????
It varies so wildly. I was browsing the new vinyl in my local shop recently, and Al Green's most recent album (a double on vinyl) was there for $12.99, whereas Morrissey's latest (a domestic, single disc) was priced at $23.99. Blue Note pressings of Norah Jones' two albums were $16.99 each.
They had a (NOS?) copy of the Beatles' Anthology 3 as well, sealed, also at $39.99. The 3-LP Who's Next reissue was $50, I think ... yet there were plenty of indie-rock LPs for more like $10 apiece.
