Mono "Sgt. Pepper" on CD - pirated on a boot?

Postby MK » Fri Aug 13, 2004 2:40 pm

Remember how Greg Calbi supposedly mastered the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" for a CD reissue in the 90's? Promos were made and the project was cancelled at the last minute, but some promos leaked out and supposedly his mastering was pirated for a boot.

Which bootleg is that? Does anyone know?

I've heard that Silent Sea's "Pepperland" uses that version. I've never heard it.

I've also heard that Silent Sea's "Pepperland" uses it... and I'm not remotely convinced it's true.

It doesn't even seem like Silent Sea ever claimed this was the case. I think it's just a baseless rumor.

Doubt it hurt Silent Sea's business at all, though.

I have an excellent boot made from tape. It sounds like a master tape. Maybe I have it! Someone sent it to me. I don't know whom.
