Mike, let me put it to you this way. What if I said "Gee, now that it's known that Bush was AWOL from the Texas National Guard, he'll never be able to live it down in the media"? Since the media has barely touched on the issue in the past few years, that would be a foolish statement to make, would it not?
There's been plenty of news out there lately about Pete, a new Who album, the various reissues, etc, and none of it mentions the charges. That's not to say they will never be brought up again, but I see no reason to believe that that "old news" will somehow overshadow everything Pete does from now on. Did Lennon's "bigger than Jesus" comment overshadow everything he did for the rest of his life? How about Rob Lowe and Hugh Grant? Or even Ted Kennedy?
