Van Morrison "Moondance" Target CD
Van Morrison "Moondance" Target CD
How does this compare to the regular CD? Is it the same?

Is it safe to go back? That dude with the blog is writing random shit to anyone who cares, but it's hard to say if the RIAA et al are taking him seriously, especially when his e-mails insult them with cheap jokes.

This is pure, baseless speculation, but my gut tells me the "target" CDs are identical to the the original domestic CDs. Evidence be damned!

What's this about a "blog guy" and Pedro's? I hadn't heard about this at all.
As for Target CDs, don't you know that they are infused with magic pixie dust from wee Japanese faeries? Targets have more goosh per bit than comparable discs. Unless goosh is a bad thing.... If that's the case, then I mean to say that they have LESS goosh per bit.

If you love Hi-REZ TAPE HISS, you're REALLY going to love Stereo Central
On the other board, the current Moondance CD is supposedly cold and hard due to bad EQ, according to Hoffman. I was hoping the target CD may be a flat transfer. This would mirror the situation with Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, where the target CD was a flat transfer and the current CD has the Ken Perry EQ.

I stopped back in to grab the Dylan "A Fool Such as I" disc.
By the way, does anybody else love the weird comments you generally see on Pedro's? They're mostly of the "WOW! I LOST THIS ALBUM IN A FIRE SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO BUT NOW I HAVE IT BACK" variety, like everyone's building a potential alibi.

Hmmm, let's say the RIAA does investigate and tracks EVERY song you downloaded from Pedro's. Assuming they haul your ass into court, if you go out and BUY those CD's and appear in court with them, could that save your ass?
I don't think the RIAA has ever been that detailed in prosecuting downloaders, I'm just curious.

I also enjoy the occasional, "Wow! This will make a nice replacement for the 8-track I bought in 1975!" Like merely owning said album in some physical format makes the downloading a little less illegal.

Probably not, but I wonder whether a creative lawyer could negotiate that as a settlement!;)
I've always wondered whether Pedro's is safer than it looks. My reasoning: while we might see "lossless downloads" as being worse than MP3 trading, the RIAA most assuredly makes no such distinction. As such, something like Pedro's--an invite-only community where "popular" releases number as many as 200 downloads--is far less of a threat to commercial prosperity than Oink's or ED2K.
