Should I have called this "Top Ten Is Ben Folds Becoming Elton John?"
Anyway, I've always had a love/hate relationship with the man--I generally dislike the "piano composer" subgenre (I've never really been fond of Elton or Billy Joel, even though I've tried VERY hard with the former)--but Mr. Folds generally tended to buck the trend by being fairly interesting, and not too "piano-melancholy."
But then I bought the new EP and heard "Give Judy My Notice."
...
There's one big advantage to the song. It can easily be reconfigured and sung to the tune of "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" ("Just Don't Lose That Notice"). Other than that...
Discuss.

Hmmm. Is that the EP only available on his site? Or is this in the stores?
He does a version of "Tiny Dancer" on the recent live album. It's also on the DVD that came with the first pressing. On the DVD, he annoyingly mugs throughout the whole song, making a face that I assume he thinks looks like Elton. The crowd loved it. I have no idea if this is relevant.
At the show I saw, he did "Careless Whisper." And, of course, George Michael and Elton had a huge-selling duet on "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me." (I wonder who they would prefer to go down on them. Forget I said that.) Again, I don't know if that matters or not.

The reason I haven't ordered this EP yet is because the website indicates that Ben intends to release a full length album after releasing 3 of these EPs. What the site doesn't indicate is whether the album will consist of all the tracks on the EPs or whether the EPs will contain exclusive tracks. As the EPs with s/h will cost more than a single CD would cost, the EPs don't strike me as particularly cost effective, unless of course there is something rare about the EPs... Anyone know?
