Check Your Closets: Who Multitracks Sought

From the (registration required) official Who site at petetownshend.com:

8 track master tape sought

We're trying to track down a missing 8 track master tape from the Who's Next session. The tape will (probably) be marked Master Reel 1 and contain the following tracks:

Bargain
The Song Is Over
Getting In Tune
Won't Get Fooled Again

If anyone knows the whereabouts of this reel please contact me in confidence at tapes@petetownshend.com

Two observations:

1) I thought they found the WGFA multitrack before the My Generation comp was released, which is why they put the remix on there.

2) I smell a 5.1 version coming. Who's Next Super-Deluxe Edition, anyone?

Yes, I was also of the understanding that WGFA on that best of was a new remix. It says it in the notes!

Also, the other details don't quite sound right. First of all, I'm fairly certain those were 16-track recordings, not 8. Also, why would all those different songs be on one reel? Normally multitracks for different songs/sessions are separate.

Maybe they're talking about the master for the 8-track cartridge version...

Someone is sitting on them for sure !
